Welcome to the Mansfield’s Heroes Memorial Fund website.
The Mansfield’s Heroes Memorial Fund was launched in October 2009 to raise funds to establish a permanent memorial to the service men and women of the District of Mansfield who have given their lives in conflicts since the end of World War Two.
Although the names of those from Mansfield who fell in the two Grear Wars are recorded in a book of rembrance in the Civic Centre, there was no memorial to the names of those who have paid the ultimate price since. Thanks to incredible efforts by the people of Mansfield and a large donation from Nottinghamshire County Council’s Local Improvement Scheme, that has now been rectified.
The brand new memorial, which cost nearly £70,000 to build stands proudly in Carr Bank Park, Mansfield. It is a testimony to the selfless acts of our service men and women and the incredible generosity and pride of the Mansfield public
The Fund will carry on fundraising so it can support local families of ex-servicemen and women via the Royal British Legion Nottinghamshire Welfare Fund and those returning injured from contemporary conflicts by making donations to the Help for Heroes charity.
There is no greater price to pay than to lay down your life for your family, friends and country.
