Pte Damian Wright was killed in 2007 in Afghanistan. His death and those of other service personnel who gave their lives since the end of the Second World War inspired the March for Mansfield’s Heroes campaign. Damian was killed by the blast from a car bomb, which left his child, wife and mother without a father, husband and son respectively. The price Damian and the other men and women paid in giving their lives for Queen and country deserve to be honoured in full and remembered forever.
We have had incredible support from literally dozens of pubs, clubs, businesses and organisations – the response has been fantastic and we can’t thank the people of Mansfield and District enough for their help.
It does not matter how much you raise or how you do it, every penny will count towards reaching our goal of honouring our dead. You may want to hold a special event, run a raffle or simply have a collection bucket on the bar. Big or small, every contribution is welcomed and appreciated.
The Mansfield’s Heroes Memorial Fund is working very closely with Help for Heroes charity and welcomes direct support to the charity from its own supporters. To register your help for Help for Heroes, please call Kevin Mitchell on 07986 869 292 for a registration form.
