Funds come streaming in
Funds raised by walkers on the 3rd March for Mansfield’s Heroes are coming in thick and fast. It looks like we may break all records this year as thousands have already been collected and banked. We can’t thank everyone enough for what they have done and achieved.
The Third Annual Crich to Mansfield Sponsored Walk; 21st May 2011
Almost a year to the day since the 2nd mass sponsored walk in aid of the Mansfield’s Heroes Memorial Fund, the third one will leave the Crich Memorial Ground at 8.15am on the 21st of May this year.
Once again we are encouraging teams from pubs, clubs, businesses, organisations and associations to get together to take on the 14,5 mile challenge and help raise funds for the memorial. This year’s walk is aiming to raise funds for the memorial rose gardens at the side of the main memorial. In the gardens will be special rose bushes that can be dedicated to service men and women who died in service or had a long connection with the services but were not killed in action. Funds from this year’s walk will also be used by the trust to maintain the Memorial in future so that any costs incurred are not born by the people of Mansfield via Council Tax.
To obtain an information and application pack for the walk, please contact Deborah Smalley on 07792 963 689 or email us through the contacts page on this website.
Good luck to all those that take part.
The second Crich to Mansfield sponsored walk, 22nd May 2010
On the hottest day of the year so far around 120 people from Mansfield made the trek from the Sherwood Foresters War Memorial in Crich to the Nell Gwyn pub in Mansfield to raise funds for the Mansfield’s Heroes Memorial Fund. Early estimations are that they raised over £6’000 between them, which is a fantastic resul – well done to everyone who took part.
This year saw several new parties take to the roads and fields to support the Heroes Fund, with a party of disabled supporters joining the main group at Teversal.
There were several sore feet a few blisters to be taken care of but in the main everyone got back safe and sound, happy in the knowledge that they had done their bit to support the cause.
Crich to Mansfield sponsored walk, 28th November, 2009
Well done Everyone!!
What a fantastic result we had on Saturday thanks to everyone that walked the 15 (in some cases a little more) miles to raise funds. We did some calculations when we got back to the Nell Gwyn and we estimate that we will have raised over £10,000 from the walk and the collection that Dougie and his lads did at every pub on the way back from Tibshelf!
Can all walkers try to get their sponsorship money in by no later than the 10th of December so we can bank it in our account. We want to be clear on where we are with hitting our target for the Military Parade on the 13th of December. To make things easy all we are asking you to do is collect in your sponsorship money, take it in to your local supporting pub, along with your form and put it in the collection bucket. That way we will know which pub team has brought in the most and we will be able to thank them all appropriately.
Thanks and congratulations to everyone – a great job well done.
